playing with punches and BasicGrey Highline

Today I have a layout to share that I created for BasicGrey using the Highline collection and punches from Lifestyle Crafts.

The star and heart punches are from the new Albums Made Easy set from Lifestyle Crafts.

I cut the strips of paper, punched out lots of hearts and stars from a variety of papers and then stapled the shapes to the paper strips. After that I adhered the strips to my page.

You can see more BasicGrey projects on their blog.

***clearing out and saving up for the adoption***

As some of you might know, we are in the middle of an international adoption.

We had our homestudy last November and have had our dossier (all of the paperwork required by the country we are adopting from) in country for more than two months. We aren't allowed to talk about the children or even mention the country because of privacy issues.

As some of you might also know, adopting is not a cheap thing to do- in fact it is thousands and thousands of dollars, but it is something we have felt strongly is part of what the plan is for us. We have four girls, we love them and thought our family was complete until about a year ago when this idea was put in our hearts and we have done all we can to follow through.

Anyway, in order to make room for a new addition to our family and to help with the financial part of it I am trying to purge some of my scrappy supplies that have accumulated over the years.

I would sell boxes for $40 (including flat rate shipping in the U.S.) and cram them full of stuff- papers, embellishments, ribbon, stamps.

Do you think you would be interested in something like that?

I could even take some requests if it is something I am already giving away :)

Please leave a comment here with your email or email me at if you are interested.

I will use PayPal for payment.

You would be helping out a very worthy cause.

playing with words

For one of my guest designer layouts for Scrapbook Circle they asked me to focus on typography and this is what I came up with:

This was one of my favorite papers from their July kit, and I thought it would be fun to cut out some of the triangles to add bits of patterned paper that featured print. I cut out some, cut only a couple of sides on others so that I could make a flap. I also added bits of journaling here and there and lots of other phrase-ology via embellishments in the kit from the Crate Open Road collection.

Here are a couple of closer looks at my page. The "dream" was cut out using the silver cardstock in the kit and my Silhouette Cameo.

If you'd like to play along with their challenge and have a chance at winning a pretty cool Crate Paper Open Road prize create a layout that features typography. Then post it on your blog, on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page or an online gallery. Leave a comment on this post on the SC blog with a link to your project for your chance to win.

quick and easy Front Porch cards

The Front Porch collection from Pebbles Inc. was released about a year ago yet it is still one of my favorites from them. I like the beautiful soft colors and pretty icons in that line.

I decided to pull out that collection again to make some quick cards:

I used bits of patterned paper and lots of premade embellishments to create these quick and easy cards.

Thanks for stopping by!

mixing up the Pebbles Inc. for a summer layout

Hey there!

Today I have a fun page to share with you that I made using the Front Porch and Birthday Wishes collections from Pebbles Inc. I know that might seem like a funny combination but I think it worked.

I started with some grid paper from Front Porch. I wanted some blue for the background so I chose the aqua dotted paper which is also from the Front Porch collection. To bring in some brightness and more color I chose the Birthday Wishes line. I like to show how themed collections can be used for everyday pages as well and this line really works for anything, not just birthdays. Plus, the colors are so fun!

The gold seals actually say "happy birthday" on them but I cleverly covered that up with one of the big buttons from the Birthday line. The colorful Thickers are one of my favorite parts of this collection.

I added a few bits of thin washi tape from the Amy Tangerine Plus One collection since the brightness of the colors worked well with the Birthday Wishes collection.

The Birthday Wishes collection includes gold and black rub-ons. I simply used just the "happy" part of the "happy birthday" sentiment on this frame from the Front Porch line.

So, what do you think?

Did mixing these collections work?

I hope you are having a great summer so far.

Sweet & Simple with Noel Mignon

Today I have my first Noel Mignon kit club "Sweet & Simple" kit project to share with you.

Back in March we took our kids to the Ranching Heritage Center and of course I took lots of pictures! I'd been saving these ones of my youngest girl and thought this kit was just what I'd been waiting for. The colors matched so perfectly!

This kit is a fun mix of October Afternoon, Crate Paper, Simple Stories, BasicGrey, My Mind's Eye and Fancy Pants. Here I have used bits of lots of patterned papers along with a tag from Chic Tags and embellishments from Crate, BG and Fancy Pants.

Here are some closer looks:

I like to do lots and lots of layering on my page and also enjoy mixing different textures. It adds visual interest to your page if you can mix things up!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

guest designing for Scrapbook Circle

Good morning!

I hope that you had a great 4th of July.

We decided to take a last-minute trip out of town since Matt had a day off of work and Sarah didn't have gymnastics team practice. We had lots of fun swimming at the hotel, having pizza delivered too late at night, going to the zoo, to Braum's and then driving around Palo Duro Canyon State Park. It was fun despite the late nights, not very much sleep and thus grumpy kids, and despite losing part of the bottom of the car as we hit a bump going through a water crossing in the canyon.

Last night we were able to watch fireworks with some friends, had snow cones and popcorn and kids got to jump on the trampoline and play and see an amazing neighborhood display. Again we got to bed too late but it was so much fun. We have today to recover from it all before heading back into the regular routine ☺

I was surprised to receive an invitation to guest design for Scrapbook Circle for July and have been having fun creating some layouts for them, the first of which was shared yesterday on their blog.

I will have another project to share soon.

Have a great weekend!
